The Killarney Suite
A warm, layered Calgary retreat designed to feel more boutique stay than basement suite.
Collected. Comfortable. Quietly elevated.
Make a basement feel like a destination.
The goal was to create a fully furnished two-bedroom suite that felt intentional, memorable and elevated — without losing the comfort and practicality a guest needs for a real stay.
Every zone needed to earn its place: living, dining, kitchen, work space, bedrooms and bath all had to feel connected, while still giving the suite the character of a thoughtfully designed home.
Layered, not overdone.
Warm neutrals, deeper accents, tactile textiles, sculptural lighting and art create personality while preserving breathing room.
Everyday function, elevated.
The kitchen was kept light and streamlined, then warmed through brass, wood and soft neutral textures. Because the suite is open plan, the kitchen needed to feel like part of the living space rather than a purely functional backdrop.
Quiet rooms with their own identity.
Both bedrooms stay within the suite’s warm, grounded palette, but each has a distinct mood so the experience feels collected rather than repeated.
Small space, same level of intention.
The bathroom continues the calm palette with crisp contrast, simple finishes and thoughtful styling. Keeping the visual language consistent makes the entire suite feel considered from one room to the next.
Designed to feel complete.
The result is a basement suite that feels less like a secondary space and more like a small, fully resolved home — warm, functional and memorable without feeling over-styled.
